第16回エドヴァルド・グリーグ国際ピアノコンクールにて優勝及び聴衆賞を受賞し一躍世界的に脚光を浴びる。その他にも第26回ローマ国際ピアノコンクールなど7つの国際コンクールで優勝。オスロフィル、ベルゲンフィル、ウクライナ国立フィル、ウィーン室内管、NHK交響楽団、読売日本交響楽団、東京フィル、東京交響楽団、日本フィル、新日本フィル、大阪フィル、大阪交響楽団、関西フィル、日本センチュリー交響楽団、京都市交響楽団、群馬交響楽団、神奈川フィル、富士山静岡交響楽団、ARKシンフォニエッタ等のオーケストラと、ハンス・グラーフ、エドワード・ガードナー、ゲルゲイ・マダラシュ、アンドレア・バッティストーニ、小林研一郎、秋山和慶、尾高忠明、高関健、佐渡裕、藤岡幸夫、沼尻竜典、下野竜也、鈴木優人、カーチュン・ウォン、杉本優、三浦文彰等の指揮で共演。ウィーン楽友協会やシェーンブルン宮殿等の世界各地の著名なホールで演奏するなど広範な演奏活動を続けている。NHK 総合『ピアノの森』では雨宮修平メインピアニスト役で出演した他、映画『アナログ』やテレビ朝日『題名のない音楽会』、NHK E テレ『青のオーケストラ』などメディアや音楽祭への出演多数イープラスミュージックよりデビューアルバム『Metamorphose』(2024年)、2ndアルバム『Pictures』(2026年2月)をリリースしともに好評を博している。京都市立芸術大学専任講師に就任し後進の指導にも当たっている。
Ryoma Takagi came to international prominence after winning both the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 16th Grieg International Piano Competition. He has since won first prizes at numerous international competitions, including the 1st Japan Tchaikovsky Competition, the 2nd Neuhaus Festival, the 15th Rome International Piano Competition, the 6th Horowitz International Piano Competition, the 19th Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition, the 38th Elena Rombro–Stepanov Competition, the 26th Rome International Piano Competition, and the Dr. Josef Dichler Competition.
He has performed at major venues worldwide, including the Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, and Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, the Gasteig in Munich, the Kremlin in Moscow, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and Festival Hall in Osaka. He has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras such as the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, National Philharmonic of Ukraine, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the New Japan Philharmonic.
An active chamber musician, Takagi has collaborated with distinguished artists including Fumiaki Miura, Sergei Nakariakov, and Ray Chen. He is also frequently featured in media and music festivals throughout Japan.
He appeared as the main pianist Shuhei Amamiya in Piano no Mori, broadcast on NHK General TV, Japan’s national public television network. His other media appearances include the feature film Analog, Untitled Concert on TV Asahi, and Blue Orchestra on NHK Educational TV (NHK E-Tele).
Born in Japan in 1992, Takagi began his musical training at the age of two. His principal teachers include Elena Ashkenazy, Hiroko Nakamura, Boris Petrushansky, and Michael Krist. While a student at Shibuya Makuhari Senior High School, he was admitted to the Concert Piano Department of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with top honors, followed by postgraduate studies.
He studied piano under Michael Krist and chamber music under Meinhard Prinz. In parallel, he enrolled at the prestigious International Piano Academy “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola, Italy, studying with Boris Petrushansky. He graduated with the title of “Meister”, an honor awarded to only six pianists in the academy’s 30-year history.
In 2023, Takagi was appointed Instructor at Kyoto City University of Arts. In April 2024, he released his debut album Metamorphose on eplus music, which has been met with critical acclaim 2024.
