2022年、ロン=ティボー国際音楽コンクールにて第1位を受賞。併せて「聴衆賞」「評論家賞」の2つの特別賞を受賞。2025年、エリザベート王妃国際コンクールにて第5位を受賞。
2001年生まれ。4歳よりピアノを始める。愛知県立明和高等学校音楽科を経て、飛び入学特待生として桐朋学園大学に入学し、2023年3月に同大学を首席で卒業。2019年、第88回日本音楽コンクールピアノ部門第1位、及び聴衆賞受賞。同年、第43回ピティナ・ピアノコンペティション特級グランプリ、及び聴衆賞受賞。これまでに福田靖子賞、第6回アリオン桐朋音楽賞受賞。2023年には、文化庁長官表彰（国際芸術部門）、出光音楽賞、岐阜県芸術文化奨励賞、愛知県芸術文化選奨文化新人賞を受賞。2023年度日本ショパン協会賞受賞。2021~2022年度公益財団法人ロームミュージックファンデーション奨学生。第51回公益財団法人江副記念リクルート財団奨学生。2023年度江崎スカラシップ奨学生。
ラ・ロック＝ダンテロン国際ピアノ・フェスティバル、ヴィリニュス・ピアノフェスティバル、リール・ピアノフェスティバルなどの音楽祭に出演。2024年7〜9月に開催された日本ツアーでは全16公演で約2万人を動員した。その他、ウィーン、パリ、シドニー、ソウルなど世界各地でもリサイタルを行い、好評を博した。これまでに、ワルシャワフィル、ブダペスト響、N響、読響など国内外のオーケストラと多数共演。2022年12月には、1stフルアルバム「VIRTUOZO」をリリースし、「レコード芸術」誌にて特選盤に選出。また、「情熱大陸」「題名のない音楽会」「クラシック倶楽部」「日曜日の初耳学」「世界一受けたい授業」などメディアでも多数取り上げられるなど、今もっとも勢いのあるピアニストとして注目されている。
現在、カールスルーエ音楽大学、桐朋学園大学ソリスト・ディプロマコースに在籍中。これまでに、青木真由子、杉浦日出夫、上野久子、岡本美智子、長谷正一、児玉桃の各氏に師事。作曲を鈴木輝昭氏に師事。
Masaya Kamei came to international prominence in 2022 at the Long-Thibaud International Competition in France, where he won First Prize, the Press Award, and the Audience Award. That same year, he also received Third Prize at the Maria Canals International Piano Competition and was a semifinalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. In 2025, he won 5th Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition.
In Japan, he gained wide recognition in 2019 when he simultaneously won First Prize at two of the country’s most prestigious competitions: the 43rd PTNA Piano Competition and the 88th Music Competition of Japan.
He has performed with Japan’s leading ensembles, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra. His interpretation of Chopin has notably led him to appear with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under Andrey Boreyko. Invited to the Festivals of La Grange de Meslay and Lille Piano(s) in 2024, Masaya Kamei returns in 2025 to the La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival with the Marseille Opera Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lawrence Foster.
Born in 2001, he began piano studies at the age of four with Mayuko Aoki, Hideo Sugiura, Hisako Ueno, Michiko Okamoto, and Shoichi Hase. While a student at Meiwa High School, he was admitted through the early entrance program to the Toho Gakuen School of Music, where he completed his bachelor’s degree with highest honors in 2023. He has been awarded distinguished scholarships, including from the Ezoe Memorial Recruit Foundation, the Rohm Music Foundation, and the Yasuko Fukuda Award. He is currently studying with Momoko Kodama at the University of Music Karlsruhe in Germany.
In the upcoming seasons, in addition to concerts and tours in Japan, Masaya Kamei will perform with the Dresden Philharmonic.He is also invited to the Mougins Music Festival, La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival, Les Pianos Folies in Le Touquet, and the Jeunes Talents Festival in Cannes.
In 2022, he released his first solo album, VIRTUOZO, which showcases both his virtuosity and his refined artistry.
